Rome: the capital of tourism in 2011

Rome is still the capital of tourism. According to the latest figures published at BIT (International Tourism Exchange) in Milan, in 2011 there was an increase of 8.4% of visitors and 7.5% of admissions.
Also in the beginning of 2012 is in line with the positive trend.
In January there was a 6.6% in arrivals and 5.7% in admissions.
The greatest rise in arrival are recorded from Russia, Luxemburg, Poland, South America and particularly Brazil. In absolute terms at the top of the top ten arrivals are the U.S followed by U.K and German.
Rome has been awarded the European City Zoover Award 2011, a recognition that reaffirms the uniqueness City of Rome.
