  • This is a cozy studio surrounded by history and is even history itself. In the midst of the Jewish ghetto and walking distance from what seems everything, this beautiful flat was just what we needed.

  • Michele is a great host, he was very helpful and welcoming during our whole stay! Special thanks for bringing us extra towels and organizing our transfer to the airport. The flat itself is perfectly located – we didn’t use the public transport at all – you can easily reach the center by walking. At the same it is close to Trastavere area where you can find the best places for dinner. The flat is well equipped and especially in the kitchen you can find anything you can think of for cooking. Conclusion – this is the perfect price/quality balance! If you look for nice, simple and well located place to stay in Rome – Portico d’Ottavia will be perfect for you! Thank you, Michele! And nice time to everyone who is going to Rome!

  • This place is really amazing. Located within walking distance of all the great Roman sites, this place is also in a really unique and lovely neighborhood meaning you’ll never feel cramped by tourists (we were there in August and upon entering Michele’s apartment we felt like Rome was ours alone. Can be a bit loud at night, but being city folk, we kinda really love that.

  • Great location, very lively but not too noisy for us (many voices but no music or bawling or traffic). It is quite small but we could just fit with 3 people. A place with great character.

  • I had such a wonderful time at Portico d’Ottavia in the heart of home! This place was literally in walking distance from the Pantheon, Campo de Fiori, Piazza Navona and many other amazing and beautiful sites. The apartment was so charming and has so much history as it is one of the oldest residential buildings in Rome. The location was so convenient and easy and it’s perfect for a tourist! The view from the apartment window was so spectacular and being able to stay here for a short time was like a dream. Also, Michele was a great host and helped with whatever needs we had. He was always available to answer any questions that I had about traveling in Rome.

  • Michele was easy to contact and made arrangements for someone to meet us, who patiently waited for hours due to plane and train delays. The flat is in a very interesting part of old Rome, with restaurants at the foot of the stairs and a view out the window of pleasant Rome street life. It is well situated to walk to the major Roman monuments, including some just a block down the street. The flat is charming, situated in a very old building. The shower is small, but overall the flat was very good for the price. Michele was very helpful. Our luggage was lost by the airline, and Michele took phone calls on our behalf until I was able to obtain a European mobile phone

  • The apartment was great!. The location was amazing. We were at most 15 minutes away from the main attractions in Rome. Plenty of restaurants and a small shopping area with some great stores that should interest many different people. Michele was helpful every time we had a question and was quick to reply. Overall I had a great time at his apartment and I would recommend it to anyone. The only complaint I have is that the area can be a little noisy, however most of the city is noisy so it will be hard to find a quiet area. Do not hesitate to use any of Michele’s apartments when you are visiting Rome, it will be worth it especially the Portico d’Ottavia location. It is so full of history and you feel like a true Roman living in this place.

  • Michele’s apartment is in a very central location, we were able to walk to most of Rome’s attractions. The apartment has been updated and was quite comfortable over all. The only downside were the restaurants downstairs which opened until midnight everyday so be aware if you are a light sleeper. Otherwise I would rate this a great place to stay when you visit Rome. Michele is a very attentive host and a pleasure to deal with.

  • Michele’s apartment was very well located to many popular attractions. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the place very much. Before arriving Michele did everything we requested about tickets (soccer match, concert) and other helpful things which we greatly appreciated. This is the place to be. Excellent host!

  • Best location you could imagine. Helpful host. A little noisy out side.

  • Michele is a very nice host! He makes sure you know your way around Rome and gives suggestions for restaurants etc. It’s like having a friend in Rome that you can call to give you inside information whenever you need it! The studio is very good size, clean and tidy! There is a fully equipped kitchen and everything is in working order (hot water, good water pressure, electricity etc.) It has a great view on a small piazza and you can also see a beautiful fountain from the piazza around the corner. The location couldn’t be better! so close to all the famous sights and local amenities.  All in all I think this studio is very good value for money and a very good alternative to the expensive Roman Hotel rooms!!!

  • Michele is a great host. He gave us very detailed and useful information about the area, the city and the apartment when we first met at the Piazza in front of the apartment. He was also very easy to communicate. The apartment is at an amazing spot. Really at the heart of Rome. You are in the center of Piazza Navona, Fontana di Trevi, Colosseum and Trastevere.. We’ve even walked to the Vatican City in 20 minutes. It is also in the middle of the old Ghetto. Pull-out bed was much more comfortable than we’ve expected. Also there are guides of Rome and everything you may need in the kitchen and in the bathroom. Michele’s place will definitely be our first choice, if we ever come back to Rome. Thanks for everything Michele..

  • My daughter (age 16) and I enjoyed 4 wonderful days in Rome this March. The Portico d’Ottavia apartment was absolutely perfect. Michele, whose English is excellent, is a delightful host with lots of advice on dining and site seeing. He also has an extensive knowledge of Rome’s history. It was nice to know that there was someone in the city to go to in case of an emergency. The apartment is bright and clean and has everything you might need to make light dinners or breakfast. There is an excellent article on this website which describes the area – dating back to the 16th century – in detail. ((website hidden)) This very quaint apartment is in one of the oldest surviving buildings. It’s on the 3rd floor – 52 steps up – but little landings make it a reasonable climb and even the architecture of the hallway is something to see. Many of the big tourist attractions are a reasonable walk away but the tram (streetcar) stop and bus stops are right up the road – learn to use those and you will move around the old city quite quickly. We took a cab from the train station (13 Euro) but after that used public transit. The Campo dei Fiori market is a block away and the local bakery, steps from the apartment door, is excellent. We ate the fried artichokes in one of the Ghetto restaurants on the eve of our departure. It was a wonderful adventure! Thanks, Michele!
